The Pentax Zoom60-X (also known as the IQZoom 60-X) is an advanced point-and-shoot 35mm camera in the excellent Espio/IQZoom series.
The camera’s lens (38 mm to 60 mm, f/4.5 to f/6.7; ) offers a modest zoom range and isn’t particularly fast. But in our tests we found its sharpness to be outstanding for a zoom point-and-shoot.
Here’s how it was described in the January 1991 issue of Popular Photography:
“Pentax bills the IQZoom 60-X as “the most compact zoom yet,” and the Pentax representative managed to shoehorn one into our editor’s shirt pocket without straining too many stitches. We’d say this replacement for the IQZoom 60 is marginally pocketable, and it’s certainly about as small a zoom P/S as we’ve seen to date, folding completely flat to less than 1¾ inches thick. Its 38-60mm f/4.5-6.7 lens focuses down to two feet in 23 steps. Besides the full range of flash options, the camera has Bulb, a “zoom-jump” summary that lets you change from wide to tele in one touch, and a dual-action self-timer that takes one shot at the preset focal length, then a second zoomed back to 38mm.”
Battery info
This camera requires two CR123 batteries (available as an option). According to Pentax’s testing, a pair of batteries should last for approximately 30 24-exposure rolls of film (assuming the flash was used 50% of the time).
Condition notes
The camera’s functions were tested with batteries and a roll of film (the film was not developed). All modes are working correctly. The camera is in very good cosmetic condition (see photos).
